The Long Way Up to Caminha

Left early in the morning and rode up to Caminha on the national roads, staying off the motorways. I went inland through Barcelos, which turned out to be really pretty, with the river, the bridge and the town centre, then on to Ponte de Lima, where I cut left for Caminha. The road from Ponte de Lima to Caminha is all twisties, one bend straight into the next, and I had it completely to myself. Great fun. I stopped wherever looked good for a photo, no real plan.

In Caminha I had lunch by the river mouth at Foz do Minho. Afterwards I rode down near the beach and ended up resting in the shade of the pine trees, reading and listening to music until almost the end of the day.

On the way back I followed the coast down to Viana do Castelo, then took the motorway home.
